Routine?

The unit works on a hub and spoke principal. Outpatient clinics are held at the various peripheral hospitals (map) Daycase and minor surgery is performed at these hospitals. Major cases are admitted to Aintree and Chester.

All the consultants offer a general oral and maxillofacial service but each has special interests and there is a cross-referral to special-interest and combined clinics.

Refer to Aintree or any of the peripheral oral and maxillofacial clinics by letter or fax addressed to an individual consultant. Referrals are dealt with by priority depending on the clinical details. Where a letter is not addressed to a specific consultant, it will be screened and passed to the surgeon with the appropriate
sub-specialist interest.
